Bake-At-Home Chicago Deep Dish Pizza

Thick N’ Juicy par-baked pizza pies are crafted to hang out in your freezer and come to life in your oven — slow-baked by you, filling your space with that unmistakable, intoxicating aroma. Each pie is stacked with a half pound of Provolone, Swiss, Mild White Cheddar, plus aged Parmigiano Reggiano, all finished with our signature slow-simmered sauce made from whole tomatoes. We generously layer toppings beneath the sauce for that authentic deep-dish bake, all nestled on our thick, flaky, chewy crust.

Preparation Instructions

DO NOT THAW

Your perfect bake awaits — let’s dial it in.

1. Preheat

Place a baking sheet on the center rack of your oven and preheat to 450°F. If using a pizza stone: Be mindful — they retain more heat than baking sheets and will cook hotter.

2. Prep the Pizza

Once your oven is fully preheated:

  • Remove the pizza from the freezer and take off the plastic wrap.
  • Keep the pizza in its aluminum tin, with the edges folded up to cradle the crust.
  • Place the tin directly onto your preheated baking sheet (or pizza stone).

3. Bake

  • Bake for 60 minutes on the center rack.
  • Optional: Rotate the pizza 180° halfway through the bake for even cooking. Your oven may not need this, you can test it out.

4. Rest & Serve

Remove the pizza from the oven and let it rest at room temperature for 10–15 minutes. Carefully remove from the tin, slice, serve, and enjoy.

Chicago deep dish isn’t “thick crust” — it’s its own category. The bottom crust should be slightly crisp, the wall firm yet soft, and the overall bite fluffy and light. At home, you get to explore that range yourself. Maybe you like your crust softer, maybe you prefer it extra crisp, or maybe somewhere in between. By adjusting temperature, rack position, and bake time, you’ll discover your oven’s perfect bake.

Every oven behaves differently, and preferences vary too. For example:

  • At the farmers’ market, we bake in a toaster oven at its highest temperature (the dial says 450) for 74 minutes on a thin baking sheet on the bottom rack, and we do not rotate the pizza as the toaster oven has the convection feature and we want to maintain the heat and keep the doors closed.
  • One customer told us her ideal bake is just one minute less than her husband’s because she prefers the crust slightly softer.

We personally use the convection setting, but both convection and standard bake work so it’s worth trying both to see which you prefer. And here’s a pro tip: if your crust ever comes out softer than you’d like (say you’re baking in a new oven or at a friend’s house), just slide your TNJP back into the tin and pop it in the oven for a few more minutes.
